2. Talking about cultural relics:
(1)They are old city walls. They are more than 700 years old.
(2)But there were many before the 1950s.
(3)People pulled lots of them down in the 1960s.
(4)Well, today the government is rebuilding some of the old city walls.
3. Learn the usage of Tag Questions:
(1)—There are many old city walls in Beijing, aren’t there?
—No, there aren’t.

T: Would you like to travel to Beijing?
S1: Yes, I’d love to.
T: Why would you like to travel to Beijing?
S1: Because there are many places of interest in Beijing.
T: Could you say some places of interest in Beijing?
S1: Yes, the Great wall, the Summer Palace….

T: There used to be lots of old city walls in Beijing, but now there are only a few old city walls. Do you want to know the reason?
Ss:Yes.
T: Now let’s listen to the tape in 1a and find out the answer to this question.

T: From listening, We know only a few old city walls remain now because people pulled lots of them down in the 1960s. Now read the dialog again and answer the following questions:

T: Let’s read 1a after the tape. Pay attention to your pronunciation and intonation. And underline the key words.

S1: People pulled them down in the 1960s.

S1: Maybe many tall buildings are standing there.
T: What should we do about the old city walls ?
S1: We should protect them.
T: Why do you think so?
S1: Because many people will visit them.
